Vid. Dr. Srikantham Nagendra Shastry was born on 10th July 1972 and belongs to the family of Chintalapalli Parampara which has a rare distinction of serving dynasties like Ganga, Hoysala, Vijayanagar, Bahamani and Mysore as court musicians and also having 800 years of recorded history. Shastry was initially trained under his grandfather Chintalapalli Ramachandra Rao and later from his maternal uncle Chintalapalli Suryanarayana Rao and pursued his higher studies in Music under Vidwan Ambi Bhagavatar who was a disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Vid. Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar and Chembai Vaidyanathaa Bhagavatar.
Shastry learnt Sangeetha Shastra and Srividya from Late Padmashri Mahamahopadhyaya Dr. R Sathyanarayana of Mysore, tala prastara shastra from Vid. Akella Mallikarjuna Sharma of Hyderabad and laya techniques under Mrudanga Vidwan M S Ramaiah.
He has given concerts and delivered lecture demonstrations on prestigious platforms such as The Madras Music Academy, Bangalore Gayana Samaja, Arkay Convention Centre, Chennai, Sree Rama Seva Mandali, Karnataka Gana Kala Parishat, Madurai Sourashtra Sabha, BTM Cultural Academy, Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira to name a few.
